4 Reasons To Get Your Workout Done In The Morning

There are many reasons why working out in the morning can be more beneficial than working out in the afternoon or at night time. The right time does come down to you and your lifestyle, but if you can smash your training session in the morning, we’d highly recommend it!

If you’re struggling to get up and workout, check out some perks below that will definitely get you out of the covers in the morning and straight into the gym!

Start the day happy

Exercise helps release serotonin in your brain, making you feel happier! Train in the morning and start the day with a massive mood boost. Working out first thing means you’ll not only feel great all day knowing your workout is done and dusted, you’ll be more relaxed too.

Having one ‘to-do’ item already ticked off while others are still figuring out what’s on their list for the day provides a great feeling of accomplishment. Like anything, getting up that bit earlier is a habit, one you can master in no time. Remember, you don’t have to be a morning person to be a morning exerciser!

To Maintain Consistency

Consistency is key when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. If you work erratic hours, it’s usually easier to schedule in training in the morning – it’s one meeting that you won’t miss as it’s first up. We all have a lot to do in our day, but exercise should be a priority, so make it the first cab off the rank not the last.

Those who exercise in the morning have even been found to be more consistent and regular exercisers. This benefit then flows into all aspects of your life: relationships, work and at home. A win-win if you ask me!

Make Better Choices

It’s easier to say no to not-so-good foods after a morning training session – you don’t want to undo all that hard work! Some people find that exercising first provides them with a great start and reason to make better food choices, compared to those that exercise later in the day or don’t exercise at all.

Working out in the morning also jump-starts your metabolism for the day, so you’ll be burning calories during the day and potentially until the afternoon or even into the night. You want your metabolism to work for you after a workout, for as long as possible. Calorie burn for minimal effort? Yes please!

Better sleep and productivity

A sound sleep is thanks to the health benefits of a routine. Waking at the same time in the morning gives you a routine, you’re more likely to get better quality sleep, and more of it. Any way to get more Zs has got to be a good thing, right?!

Exercise has also been shown to increase mental acuity for the rest of the day, therefore making you more productive at work. Hit the gym or park early and you’ll wake up more naturally (without needing that double espresso), and sharpen your focus!

How many afternoon or evening workouts have been torpedoed by meetings running late, phone calls or family commitments? Quite a few! Working out in the morning means it’s done, and can’t be interrupted later by things popping up! You won’t put your workout off until later in the day, then run out of time and never get around to doing it! At the end of the day, the most important factor for achieving training results = ACTUALLY DOING YOUR WORKOUTS.

Getting in your workouts in the first place is 99.5% of your results. The other 0.5% is the specific timing of your sessions. So focus your energy on getting into a routine that works for you and your schedule. Because as long as you’re getting your workouts done, no matter the time of day, you are putting yourself in the best position to see results!
