5 Reasons Why You CAN Lose Weight Over Christmas

Most of us can relate to increasing waistlines around Christmas and the holiday season. In fact, on average, we gain 2 kilos by the time the New Year rolls around, and it can be hard to find the motivation to lose it again. 

But the thought of being on a ‘diet’ over the silly season is probably enough to throw in the towel before you’ve even begun. And fair enough! Parties, BBQ’s, lunches, dinners and everything in between. The festive season is often full of fun social activities and occasions. So it’s easy to assume that a ‘diet’ might hold you back, or be a buzzkill. BUT! Thank the weather

We’ve spent the majority of the past winter motivating you to, well, stay motivated, when the weather wants you to stay in bed instead! But come summer, that’s a non-issue. Warm weather is the perfect excuse for a walk (or any physical activity outdoors). It’ll boost your energy levels and keep your vitamin D and serotonin levels in check! Just don’t forget the SPF!

Time for Sleep

During the year, competing demands and busy schedules take priority over a good night’s sleep. Of course, Christmas time involves a lot more socialising, but the holiday season is also a realistic time to rest and recuperate! And getting enough sleep is crucial to losing weight! So take the time to sleep and your weight loss efforts will thank you!

Events are pre-planned

This means you can pre-plan too! Make smart calorie swaps on that vege bake you’ve been asked to bring, plan which low calorie booze you’re going to be drinking, and avoid hidden temptations by tracking your intake. 

Staying hydrated

Never has it been easier to drink water than in summer! Hydration is integral to weight loss and the warm weather means you’ll naturally be reaching for the tap more often.
