12WBTer Sandy lost over 60kg and 168cm in just under a year of 12WBT.
We sat down with her to get the low-down on how she achieved such an incredible result, and what advice she has for anyone wanting to undertake their own weight loss journey.
Describe your mindset before you started your journey
Just over a year ago I was very sad, depressed, anxious and suffering extreme grief due to the passing of my sister. I felt like I was in quicksand; sinking with no way out of my unhealthy, overweight lifestyle.
I discovered 12WBT and straightaway it gave me something else to focus on. I saw changes immediately, not just on the scales but in my mindset.
I became more positive, organised, energetic, confident and just so grateful for being given another chance to turn things around and live my life to the fullest.

What are some physical achievements you’re proud of?
Where do I start? After three consecutive rounds of 12WBT I have lost 52 kilos and a massive 168cm from my body! I’ve gone from a very tight size 26 to a size 12.
My fitness score has gone from 0 to 74 in just three rounds. I could barely walk nine months ago and now I can jog!
I feel so much fitter and healthier: I feel I can take on any new challenges that are thrown my way.
What are some mental achievements you’re proud of?
I have been overweight all of my life – so many excuses have stopped me from losing weight.
Since starting 12WBT I have gone from strength to strength! My mindset now is that of a completely different person. I now refuse to eat junk food and sugar because I know how it affects my mind and body.
I stay positive even when the scales don’t move for two weeks, as I know the changes will come and I’m getting stronger mentally and physically.
What are some lifestyle changes you’ve implemented?
I absolutely love to meal prep! I have big cook-ups and freeze a lot of meals in advance. So, even on tough days when it’s all too much, there are no excuses to not enjoy healthy, nutritious food.
I go for long 10km walks daily and love my at-home 12WBT workouts. I didn’t have to join the gym; I get to workout with Michelle in the comfort of my own home!
What’s a tip you have for staying on track?
Yes – track everything you eat in terms of calories! It’s amazing how quickly calories can add up. Spend your calories wisely, not on crap food because it tastes good.
Enjoy nutritious food and you will feel fuller and more satisfied for longer.
Looking over your food diary helps keep you focused and realistic.
