Top Transformers

Sarah Sultman (aka Sarah_moa)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? Whilst I absolutely love being a new mum, it has been great to do something for me. 12WBT has provided me with so many meal choices and to save time and money. I’m someone who needs an exercise plan, so this has given me much needed direction and time management tips! I have really enjoyed reading posts online from other members on the same journey. It does transform you, and makes you accountable and motivated to keep going.

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? That I am up for the challenge with the support of 12WBT. It’s made me realise that I haven’t really challenged myself for a long time. I now realise the importance of breakfast (the 12WBT breakfast recipes are great!), and a good reward after exercising – there is always time to fit in exercise!

What was the biggest challenge you faced? I have a sweet tooth and have always snacked, I honestly thought this would be my biggest challenge. I used to have sugar in my tea and mid-afternoon and after dinner have always been the times I needed a sugar fix. Whilst I admit that it was a little difficult in the beginning, I haven’t gone without – I just make better choices.

Stuart Dowling (aka Stuart_hip42)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? The best part has been the result! But really, following a plan and knowing you are going somewhere has been great – my wife has never seen me below 90kg!

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? Portion size has been a big learning part of my journey.

What was your favourite meal? There are several meals – I always enjoyed the Apricot chicken Tagine dish. My two daughters enjoyed the Veal Meatballs with Couscous, and I loved the Banana and Ricotta Jaffles for breakfast.

Jessica Davies (aka JessicaD17)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? Right from the start I felt like a part of something. I enjoyed feeling a part of something and supported by other participants and the 12WBT Support Crew.

What was the biggest challenge you faced? A couple of my challenges were emotional eating, a heavy workload with Year 12, juggling two jobs and a team sport I participated in. This sometimes meant I had to miss the recommended exercises and instead substitute with what I could manage to fit in each day.

Complete this sentence, “I know I’m doing 12WBT when…” I start to feel the difference within myself and can see the difference in the mirror and scales. I have also had to buy new exercise clothes to fit my new body shape.

Brooke Schram (aka brooke_1985)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? I have gained so much knowledge! I now know how to count calories, calories vs. kilojoules, low GI carbs, high GI carbs, differences between breads, and how important sleep is. I have learnt different exercises and most of all how to be in the right frame of mind. Also being winter, 12WBT made me keep active – and seeing the weight disappear was by far my best and proudest achievement.

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? Mindset matters! If you are not in the right frame of mind, what you set out to do will not be achieved, but if you are in the right frame of mind anything is possible. I also learnt that quitting is never an option on the road to success!

What was your favourite meal AND your favourite exercise plan? My favorite meal was any of the risotto recipes – and the Vegetable & Barley soup was to die for.  My favorite Exercise Plan was ‘Three direction/hit me with your best shot’ because it was burning calories, a great body workout but most of all it was great fun – and my kids joined in too.

Angela Brown (aka angela58)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? The Meal Plan – the meals are amazing and I never felt hungry. It is made so easy by being able to print out the Shopping List ,and I looked forward to Thursday morning to see what’s on the plan for the following week. I also loved the way I could customise the Meal Plan!

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? That even with health problems you can still achieve your goals. I learnt to concentrate on the things I can still do instead of getting down about the things I can’t. I am enjoying exercising in water now which is something I didn’t do before, and I now love yoga.

What was your favourite meal AND your favourite exercise plan? My favourite meal is a hard one as there have been so many! If I was to choose it would be Lamb Biriyani – it tastes amazing. The Exercise Plan would be the weeks that include change up day. I love the way that just when you think it’s going to be the same thing each week, Mish suddenly throws in a different plan. I know that your body gets used to doing the same things, so it’s good to change things and mix them up.

12WBT Heroes

Tanya Saunders (aka TanyaSaunders)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? The tasty winter warmer dinners.

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? No matter what, keep moving forward.

Complete this sentence, “I know I’m doing 12WBT when…” I’m super organised and working towards my goals.

Kim Bluett (aka Kimothy23)

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? It’s really hard to pick one thing! So far the most important things have probably been the value of goals and surrounding yourself with the right people.  This Round I had to cope with injury and setbacks for the first time since starting my running journey, so being able to keep going back to focus on my goals and have the right support around me was really valuable.

What was your favourite meal AND your favourite exercise plan? My family and I are embracing the vegetarian meals –the Fattoush and the Mushroom & Quinoa Risotto have become go-to meals for us. My favourite Exercise Plan is running outdoors, with all the strength exercises being so easy to do at home – no excuses!  Most of all, I love the fact that I now have abs, which I have never had in my life – quite seriously, never ever, until now.

Complete this sentence, “I know I’m doing 12WBT when…” I open my fridge and have all the ingredients I need to make a great, fresh and tasty meal – absolutely invaluable when running in the door from work at 6pm every night with two hungry kids.

Minka Grenier (aka Minx35)

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? This Round I’ve learned that every workout and Meal Plan is integral to training – to get the right nutrition, avoid injury and improve my running time. When I don’t do these things, I know about it! This has been my fifth round and I’d say overall I’ve discovered how important good nutrition is to how I feel both physically and mentally.

What was your favourite meal AND your favourite exercise plan? My favourite meal was the Penang Chicken. The kids loved it too, so that makes the meal even better! I just noticed there is a Thermomix adaptation, so that’s going to make it even easier. My favourite Exercise Plan is Hill Intervals – I feel so good afterwards and I know it’s helping me improve my time. I also do it with the most beautiful view – the sun rising over Brisbane!

Complete this sentence, “I know I’m doing 12WBT when…” I feel strong and healthy and go to sleep each night thinking about running.

Amy Marshall (aka theRedFemme)

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? It’s hard to keep it to just one as I felt I learned so much about myself this Round! I think possibly the most important thing was that I have a responsibility. I learned that I can and should be proactive in my life – and that I have positive choices that I can make every day. I have a responsibility to myself, to my health and happiness to choose better.

What was the biggest challenge you faced? Being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It really threw me for a while because it meant that there were things about my health and my body that I had little control over. It was tempting to fall back into my usual maladaptive coping strategies of eating poorly because I wanted to comfort myself. I realised my healthy and active lifestyle was life-long, to help manage the disease. There was something quite empowering about that.

What was your favourite meal AND your favourite exercise plan? My favourite meals are always the breakfasts. It’s just the best meal of the day, and it sets you up for the rest of the day feeling healthy and energetic – and I LOVED the Cream cheese, Strawberry and Maple bagel! It even bumped the French Toast with Banana, Berries and Maple Syrup from the top of the brekkie list! My favourite Exercise Plan was the Three Direction SSS – hard work but so much fun!

Sherryl Chilcott (aka sherryl_veracious13)

What was the best part of taking part in 12WBT June Round? My favourite part of being involved in the June 12WBT Round was overcoming each challenge, that on the face looked tough and unachievable but ended in success. I was able to discover a better version of myself.

What is the most important thing you learned as part of your 12WBT journey? To not hold on to old baggage, kick it out of the ballpark and move on. This has helped me personally, physically and professionally.

Complete this sentence, “I know I’m doing 12WBT when…” I know I’m doing the 12WBT when I roll out of bed and into my exercise gear at 5.30am, and by 8pm at night I am ready to go straight to sleep instead of watching TV till all hours. Plus, people have been telling me how great I look!
